UMA Restricts Polymarket Resolutions to Whitelisted Users in Oracle Upgrade
UMA, the oracle provider for prediction platform Polymarket, has implemented a whitelist system for market resolution proposals following its transition to Managed Optimistic Oracle V2 (MOOV2). Only approved addresses can now directly submit proposals, though any user may dispute inaccurate resolutions.
The change stems from governance proposal UMIP-189, passed August 6, aiming to reduce disputes caused by premature or inexperienced submissions under the previous OOV2 system. PolymarketGuide notes these often triggered four-day delays and bond forfeitures. "A curated group of proposers increases due diligence," the knowledge base observed, particularly for straightforward markets tracking sports, weather, or cryptocurrency prices.
While decentralizing proposal authority, the update preserves crowd-sourced dispute resolution. The shift reflects a broader industry tension between open participation and curated expertise in blockchain governance.
